Bollywood actress Kareen Kapoor said she was proud to be her husband’s wife in an interview, and the response to her remarks has been anything but friendly.
The star has been bulldozed on social media after she said, “I believe in equality. I wouldn’t say I am a feminist, I would say I am a woman and above all, I am a human being,” in an interview. “I am also as proud to be known as Saif Ali Khan’s wife, as I am to be Kareena Kapoor. So that is just the way I am,” she continued.
“What was wrong in the feminism statement? I’d still say that I believe in equality and there’s nothing wrong in it,” Kapoor said in a Tuesday interview with HT City, defending her earlier statements. “On social media platforms many people misuse the word feminism. It is about equality and does not mean one is superior to another. It is about equal rights for everyone,” Kapoor insisted.
Kapoor’s remarks follow the premiere of her newest film “Veere Di Wedding,” which blew ticket sales out of the water.
#VeereDiWedding pulls a BIG SURPRISE… Packs a FANTASTIC TOTAL in its opening weekend… North circuits in particular are ROCKING… Storms into Top 5 opening weekends of 2018… Fri 10.70 cr, Sat 12.25 cr, Sun 13.57 cr. Total: ₹ 36.52 cr. India biz.

Kapoor maintains that she works for equality for all persons, not just for women or men. She also seeks to distance herself from ‘feminist’ labels that may misrepresent her mission.
The actress has appeared in popular films, “Bodyguard,” “3 Idiots” and “Ki & Ka.”
