Military Cargo Plane Crashes Near Savannah, Georgia

Five people died Wednesday when a Puerto Rico Air National Guard C-130 Hercules military transport aircraft crashed near Savannah, Ga., the Georgia Air National Guard told The Associated Press.

Emergency crews are responding to the incident, which occurred at the intersection of Crossgate Road and Highway 21, Chatham County Emergency Management and the Savannah Fire Department revealed. The plane was from the Air National Guard 165th Air Wing in Puerto Rico and was on a training mission when it went down around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.

There were five people onboard the transport aircraft at the time of the accident, according to the National Guard.
