A new website is tracking once-thriving communities fallen on hard times due to environmental activism billionaire Tom Steyer funded, The Washington Free Beacon reported.
Steyerville.com launched Thursday by Power the Future (PTF), a non-profit that advocates the benefits of fossil fuels. The website holds an interactive map displaying the stories of communities in three states smothered by environmental policies.
“We started Steyerville to demonstrate the danger the eco-left poses to rural communities,” PTF Executive Director Daniel Turner told The Free Beacon.
“Steyer’s activism has consequences, and it’s visible in these towns,” Turner added. “Every shuttered store, every closed school, every multi-generational family [who] separates because mom and dad lost their job: this is all on his hands. We will make him own it.”
Tom Steyer is a major donor to the Democrat Party and founder of the Need to Impeach campaign to impeach President Donald Trump.
Steyer backs a variety of environmental causes and organizations, such as the Sierra Club. The Sierra Club’s Beyond Coal campaign stifled economic activity in Green County, Penn., costing the county about a third of coal mining jobs. The county lost five percent of its population between 2010 and 2017, according to data PTF compiled.
The map features stories from Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, so far.
“We are starting in these three states but plan to expand nationwide,” Turner said. “New York, New Mexico, Texas, Wyoming, Louisiana all have Steyervilles: towns where Steyer pays activists to prevent the energy industry from operating.”
