Obamas Praise Parkland Students For Their ‘Resilience’ And ‘Resolve’

Former President Barack Obama sent a personal letter to Parkland students last week, praising them for their activism for gun control.
Obama and Michelle Obama wrote the Mar. 10 letter, Mic Wednesday obtained, to offer support for student activists and to tell them how they made an “enormous difference” in the lives of those around them.
“We wanted to let you know how inspired we have been by the resilience, resolve and solidarity that you have all shown in the wake of unspeakable tragedy,” the Obamas wrote in the letter. “Not only have you supported and comforted each other, but you’ve helped awaken the conscience of the nation and challenged decision-makers to make the safety of our children the country’s top priority.”
Student survivors of the deadly massacre at the Parkland, Fla., high school have become activists in the past month, hosting school walkouts and calling on politicians to sever ties with the National Rifle Association. A chief call of theirs has also been for gun control.
The students, who formed coalition “#NeverAgain,” plan to march on Washington this weekend and demand a ban on all assault weapons, fix loopholes in background checks, and to prevent the sales of high capacity magazines.
