Democratic Connecticut Rep. Jim Himes said former President Barack Obama shares part of the blame for America’s issues with Russia and believes his administration didn’t do enough to control the problem.
CNN’s Alisyn Camerota asked Himes about sanctions against Russia and thinks they didn’t go far enough
“It’s a small step in the right direction, but it’s not enough,” Himes told Camerota. “I don’t just level that criticism at the Trump administration. I level that criticism at the previous administration as well. Look, we had a very serious attack on the mechanism of our democracy, and we responded with a little bit of a slap on the wrist.”

“We need to do more to make it clear that we won’t tolerate this kind of thing or that we won’t tolerate what we saw in the United Kingdom. The murder of an ex-spy by Russian agents,” Himes added.
“I understand this was controversial in the last administration,” he concluded. “But had I been in the administration when this happened, I would have urged an exercise of our own cyber capabilities, and I wouldn’t have done it in a way that would have created casualties in Russia.”
