Border Officers Bust Smuggler With Nearly Four Million Dollars Worth Of Meth In Car’s Gas Tank

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers found nearly $4 million worth of liquid methamphetamine stashed inside a truck’s gas tank Friday, according to a Monday statement.
El Paso, Texas, border checkpoint agents, who process vehicles entering the U.S., stopped a pick up truck after a drug-sniffing dog made officers aware there were narcotics in the vehicle. Officers found 164.5 pounds of liquid meth placed in six containers in the gas tank, after searching the truck. The meth is worth an estimated $3,948,000.

The truck’s driver was a man from Mexico whose name was not released. He was handed over to Homeland Security Investigations special agents and charged for drug smuggling.
“Smugglers spent considerable time and effort to conceal this liquid meth load,” CBP El Paso Port Director Beverly Good said in a statement. “This seizure proves again that smugglers will use any available space in a vehicle to hide their contraband.”
