A former aide to President Donald Trump who’s responsible for a series of bizarre media antics now says he’ll cooperate with special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the U.S. election.
Former Trump campaign adviser Sam Nunberg’s probably “going to end up cooperating” with special council Robert Mueller’s probe, he told the Associated Press Monday night.
Mueller issued Nunberg a subpoena to appear before a federal grand jury on Friday, the former Trump aide previously told the Washington Post Monday. The two-page subpoena also demanded he produce records of his communications with Trump and nine current and former Trump associates.
He also planned on ripping up the document during an appearance on Bloomberg TV. “Let him arrest me,” Nunberg said during the WaPo interview. “Mr. Mueller should understand I am not going in on Friday.”
He topped the day off when CNN host Erin Burnett told Nunberg she smelled alcohol on his breath and confronted him about whether he had anything to drink before the interview. Nunberg completely denied the accusations but did say he had taken some “antidepressant” medication earlier.
