School District Is Tearing Down The Parkland Building Where Shooting Occurred

The Broward County school district plans on tearing down the building where a shooter opened fire and killed students and faculty.
Broward Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie explained the district’s plans to take down the three-story building where the mass shooting occurred, with the intention to place a memorial there instead, reports the Sun Sentinel.
The move comes after parents and students told officials they would never be able to walk into the building again.
“Parents and students have resoundingly told me they can’t go back into that building regardless of what we do,” Runcie said. “The other piece I heard is that that building will be used as evidence in any type of legal process that goes forward, so we won’t be able to access the building for a while anyway.”
Former Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student Nikolas Cruz shot up the school Wednesday, killing 17 people and wounding 14. The FBI admitted that it didn’t follow proper protocol in chasing down a tip they received about Cruz owning a gun and threatening to kill people.
