Arianna Huffington Warns #MeToo Movement May Stop Men From Mentoring Women

Arianna Huffington warned of men no longer wanting to mentor women as a result of the #MeToo movement in a Tuesday tweet.

Huffington said it could be a bad thing that men may no longer be comfortable mentoring women in an era where women are coming forward with their stories of harassment and assault.

“3x as many male managers are now uncomfortable mentoring women in the wake of #MeToo. This is a huge step in the wrong direction. We need more men to #MentorHer,” Huffington tweeted.

Huffington linked to a campaign, #MentorHer, that argued fighting sexual harassment in the workplace is not enough, but society must also create a space where men can feel comfortable mentoring women so women can achieve leadership roles in business.

“There is evidence of a backlash that could be harmful to women: twice as many male managers now feel uncomfortable working alone with a woman. This is a step in the wrong direction,” the campaign notes.
