Facebook temporarily locked Dr. Jordan B. Peterson out of his account, according to a Sunday announcement by the University of Toronto professor.
The psychology professor claims Facebook required him to upload a photo ID but that the company still locked him out of his account even after he submitted it twice. Facebook told him “we’ll get in touch with you after we’ve reviewed your photo” and “you’ll now be logged out of Facebook as a security precaution,” according to a screenshot Peterson sent to The Daily Caller News Foundation.
Facebook did not tell the professor when his account, which boasts over 150,000 followers, will be unlocked.
Facebook has now made it impossible for me to login; requiring photo id, which I uploaded: no indication of why, or when they will reinstate my access. What the hell?

Peterson speculated that perhaps Facebook is simply trying to be vigilant about fraud but noted that prior censorship conducted by the company makes it “impossible not to be instantly suspicious,” when speaking with TheDCNF.
“The actions of the Big Three (Google, YouTube, Facebook) invoke justifiable paranoia,” the professor told TheDCNF. “They do produce crooked, manipulative algorithms, driven by an explicitly political agenda. They continually demonetize arbitrarily and harshly (most recently with Dave Rubin, Ben Shapiro and I). They do shut people down (as YouTube/Google clearly did to me last year), with little explanation, and they constantly gerrymander their curated content.” (RELATED: Google And YouTube Ban Prof Who Refused To Use Gender-Neutral Pronouns)
Hey @TeamYouTube, you demonetzied this video, but folks are still seeing ads. Who will see that revenue? Live analytics show over 450K views. Do you just keep all that rev or refund it to advertisers? Do you have any humans at your company I can speak to? https://t.co/BgRkMH8653

“These companies need to make their policies for moderating public conversation public and transparent, and they need to do it as soon as possible,” said Peterson.
TheDCNF reached out to Facebook for comment but received none in time for press.
UPDATE: Peterson reported that he was again able to access his account roughly three hours after publication of this article.
