Democratic Florida Rep. Frederica Wilson declared Monday the president did not deserve to be honored at the State of the Union in light of comments he made about Africa and Haiti.
Wilson, appearing on CNN’s “New Day,” explained she will skip Tuesday’s State of the Union address because of President Donald Trump’s alleged shithole comments.

“I’m not going because to go would be to honor the President and I don’t think he deserves to be honored at this time, after being so hateful towards black people and then black countries, Haiti and the whole continent of Africa. It hurts. And then he’s brought the White House to the lowest. And I don’t think he needs to be honored with my presence,” Wilson said.
Many Democratic lawmakers plan to not attend the State of the Union address in protest of the president, with some pointing to the “racism of the president” as reasoning.
