Wynn Loses Millions, Resigns GOP Position After Gross Sexual Allegations

Las Vegas casino mogul Steve Wynn has resigned his position as chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC) finance chair, Politico reports, one day after allegations that he sexually harassed a number of female employees.

Wynn, who turned 76 Saturday, saw his net worth plummet by at least $250 million after stock in his company, Wynn Resorts, dropped 10 percent following The Wall Street Journal’s report of the allegations, Forbes magazine reports.

RNC committee members will be notified of Wynn’s resignation Saturday. The RNC did not immediately return The Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.

The Democratic Party has wasted no time pointing out that Republican politicians should return money raised from Wynn.

“The RNC and Ronna McDaniel have helped fund the campaign of an alleged child molester, blindly supported the GOP’s attacks on women’s health, supported a President who has been accused of sexual misconduct by over a dozen women — and now they remain silent amid sexual assault allegations involving Steve Wynn, one of their party’s most senior officials,” Sabrina Singh, deputy communications director for the Democratic National Committee, told CNN.

One former employee alleges that Wynn told a woman who worked for him, “So when are you going to come into my office and fuck me?” Wynn also reportedly pressured a massage therapist and a manicurist to have sex with him on multiple occasions, according to the WSJ.

Wynn’s office denied the reports Friday, claiming the allegations could be an effort by Wynn’s ex-wife, Elaine, to gain leverage in divorce proceedings.

“The recent allegations about Mr. Wynn reflect allegations made in court hearings by Mr. Wynn’s ex-wife, Elaine Wynn, in her legal battle with him and the company,” Wynn Resorts told CNBC in a statement. “It is clear that Mr. Wynn’s ex-wife has sought to use a negative public relations campaign to achieve what she has been unable to do in the courtroom: tarnish the reputation of Mr. Wynn in an attempt to pressure a revised divorce settlement from him.”
