Iowa Republican Rep. Steve King endorsed Kelli Ward for Arizona’s Republican U.S. Senate seat Friday morning.
“Dr. Ward will be a fighter for America First policies that prioritize the safety, security, and well-being of the American people. We don’t need any more senators who will go to Washington and compromise on the promises that they made to the voters who elected them,” King said in a written statement.
Honored to receive the endorsement of Rep. @SteveKingIA, a true Constitutional conservative! I look forward to working with him in Washington to advance real #AmericaFirst immigration policies, reduce our #NationalDebt, & finally repeal #Obamacare. #AZSEN https://t.co/GuLU2iflxR pic.twitter.com/Wmr6m2p9LQ

Ward, the former state senator who lost her primary challenge last year against Arizona Sen. John McCain, is now running against Arizona Republican Rep. Martha McSally and former Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio for the seat of current Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake, who announced he would not be seeking re-election in October. (RELATED: Jeff Flakes! Will Not Seek Re-Election)
“We need principled, conservative representatives who will be smart on enforcing border security and cracking down on illegal immigration. I am confident that Dr. Ward is that candidate, and I am proud to endorse her candidacy for U.S. Senate,” King continued in his endorsement.
King and Ward share similar believes on immigration, King has been a critic of illegal immigration and has continued to call for congress and the White House to end Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Deferred Action for Parents of Americans (DAPA).
