Four Cops Shot When Responding To Domestic Disturbance

Four South Carolina police officers were injured when a gunman opened fire as they responded to a domestic violence call Tuesday morning.

Three York County Sheriff’s deputies and one K-9 officer were shot and immediately taken to a hospital after responding to a to a domestic violence call outside of York, S.C. Two of the officers were airlifted to a hospital, and the other two were transported by car. The officers’ names have not yet been released and their conditions are still unknown, WBTV reported.

The alleged shooter, 47-year-old Christian Thomas McCall, who was reportedly assaulting his wife, fled from the scene on foot, before suffering gunshot wounds in the crossfire. McCall was placed in custody and taken to the hospital, and his condition remains unknown.

McCall’s father-in-law told WSOC-TV that it was “uncharacteristic” for McCall to act violently toward police.

The York police department tweeted Tuesday morning that people should pray for the officers who were shot.

“This is the worst-case scenario for officers and their families, and right now we are concerned about all of them,” York Police Chief Andy Robinson said. “This is what we hope never happens.”
