Denmark Police Charge 1,000 People For Sharing Video Of Adolescents Having Sex

Denmark police reportedly charged more than 1,000 people, most of them quite young, with illegally sharing a video of two 15-year-olds engaging in sexual intercourse.
The intimate recording was distributed somewhat widely through Messenger, Facebook’s proprietary instant-messaging platform and app, according to BBC. Upon detecting the circulation of illicit content, the American-based tech company notified U.S. authorities, who then notified authorities in Denmark.
Police summoned and interviewed 1,004 people, including some over the age of 18. The charge — distribution of indecent images of children — has a punishment of 20 days in jail, as well as a mandated registration on the child pornography offenders list to last for 10 years, reports BBC.
Revenge porn, the distribution of sexually explicit content without the subject’s consent, has been a hot button issue in America and around the world. Facebook has been adamantly striving to combat the problem.
Congress has also introduced a bipartisan bill in November to better limit the lewd act.
