Pence Will Lead US Delegation To Winter Olympics

Vice President Mike Pence and Second Lady Karen Pence will lead the U.S. delegation to the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, according to a Wednesday report.
A senior White House official told Reuters that Pence will be attending the Olympic Games, which are scheduled for Feb. 9-25 in South Korea. The vice president’s decision to lead the U.S. delegation comes as North Korea announced after an 11-hour meeting with South Korea that they would be sending a delegation to the games.
Pence will also reportedly stop in Alaska and Japan on his trip. In Alaska, Pence will review intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) defense systems. After, Pence is said to speak to Japanese and South Korean leaders in Japan about the U.S. commitment to helping the region.
Ivanka Trump is expected to join the vice president, but the report has not yet been confirmed by the White House.
One of the main reasons Pence is also going on this trip is to show his “confidence and appreciation” to U.S. military stationed in the region, Fox News reported.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said Tuesday that the entire U.S. delegation would be announced in the “coming days.”
