Hoda Kotb Will Make Significantly Less Than Matt Lauer On ‘Today’ Show

Hoda Kotb will receive substantially less as an anchor on the “Today Show” than Matt Lauer, according to a report from the New York Post.

At $7 million a year, Kotb will still reportedly be making $18 million less than Lauer. She will also be making $13 million less than fellow anchor Megyn Kelly, despite the fact that she will be doing significantly more shows for NBC than either Kelly or Lauer ever did.

Kotb will replace Lauer on the 7-9 a.m. slot, and will also co-host the 10 a.m. hour with Kathy Lee Gifford. Lauer only worked 7-9 a.m. four days a week.

“Hoda isn’t complaining about the money. She has landed the big job she always dreamed of, and most definitely deserves,” an anonymous source told the NY Post. “If things go well, Hoda could ask for more next time if she re-ups her contract. But the figures underline the huge wage disparity at NBC News.”

Kotb’s pay disparity follows a broader conversation about women in media receiving significantly less money for equal work of their male counterparts.

Meanwhile, NBC parent company Comcast has launched an internal investigation into who was aware of Lauer’s sexual misconduct. NBC News chairman Andy Lack recently announced a “culture assessment” of the company as well.
