On Dec. 13, 2016, hip-hop superstar Kanye West was spotted mucking it up with then President elect Donald Trump at Trump Tower.

While West had been seen strolling through the gold-plated building in midtown Manhattan before, this visit became a public spectacle, fueling speculation that the outspoken artist would have some sort of role in Trump’s administration.

When asked about the meeting, Trump said West was “a good man. We’ve been friends for a long time” and said they talked about “life.”

West wouldn’t comment on the meeting and simply instructed the press to “take a picture right now.”

Before he left, Trump hugged the rapper and said, “You take care of yourself. I’ll see you soon.”

When asked about the meeting by the Daily Beast, former Trump transition communications director Jason Miller said the two met because Trump “is going to be president for all Americans.”

According to Miller, Kanye had “positive things to say about the president-elect.”
