Trump Thanks Mattis For ‘Knocking The Hell Out Of ISIS’

President Donald Trump praised Secretary of Defense James Mattis for his ISIS-fighting tactics during a cabinet meeting Wednesday.
“He’s knocked the hell out of ‘em,” Trump boasted, jokingly asking Mattis, “Of course, I made it possible by what I let you do, right?” Mattis affirmed the president’s question with a simple “Yes, sir.”
“We don’t want ‘em going into our country,” Trump added, an apparent reference to his interim travel ban’s clearance of the U.S. Supreme Court Monday.
Trump, at cabinet meeting, had Gen. Mattis in the awkward photo op seat next to him today (Flake yesterday, empty chairs last week). Praised him for "knocking the hell out of" ISIS but added: "Of course, I made it possible by what I let you do, right?" Mattis replied, "Yes, sir."

ISIS has been significantly degraded in Iraq and Syria in recent months with the loss of nearly all major cities under its control. The group is largely confined to small desert pockets in Iraq and Syria that are surrounded by hostile military forces and pounded from the air by U.S. warplanes.
