An English society will burn an enormous effigy of Harvey Weinstein this weekend following his sexual assault allegations, bonfire organizers announced Wednesday.
The Edenbridge Bonfire Society broadcasted the event on Facebook to express disdain for the producer in a 36-foot-high statue effigy of the now-disgraced Hollywood mogul. While the group traditionally burns an effigy of Guy Fawkes, a Catholic rebel who tried to blow up Parliament in 1605 in the “Gunpowder Plot,” this year’s chosen target is Weinstein, Huffington Post reported.

“As with last year there were many strong contenders for this year’s celebrity guy, particularly in the political and cultural world. However, Weinstein was the obvious option due to allegations of outrageous and despicable conduct, which we at Edenbridge Bonfire Society obviously found completely abhorrent,” the group wrote on its Facebook page, adding, “There is of course nothing funny about Weinstein’s behaviour, so it seemed only fair that he gets his comeuppance in effigy form.”
Harvey Weinstein currently has at least 80 women accusing him of sexual harassment, assault, and rape.
