A parent having a “breakdown” held a Riverside, Calif. teacher hostage for six hours in her classroom, local authorities said Tuesday.
Students at Castle View Elementary School were evacuated after the parent allegedly assaulted a school employee and then locked himself in a room with one of the school’s teachers, ABC7 reported.
None of the children were reported to have injuries and the teacher, identified by her daughter as Linda Montgomery, is expected to make a full recovery. It is still unclear of what her injuries consist.

The police were called to the scene around 11 a.m Tuesday to answer reports about an issue on the campus. According to the police account, the man entered the school, punched a staffer and then trapped himself and Montgomery in her classroom.
The school was put on lockdown and then evacuated as the situation progressed. All students were eventually reconnected with their families.
Authorities have not given a clear answer as to why the parent forced his way into the school, but people claiming to be the man’s family said he had suffered from a breakdown.
“He had a breakdown, and he relapsed again. That’s all, he’s not dangerous,” a man claiming to be an uncle said. “It’s just a matter of getting in there and talking to him, because we can talk to him. He’ll come out for us if police let us, before anything bad happen to him.”
