A social media tracker announced Wednesday that President Donald Trump surpassed Pope Francis as the world leader with the largest Twitter following over the weekend.

The social media tracker Twitplomacy announced that Trump topped their list of 890 current world leaders on twitter, according to the Associated Press. Trump took the lead with a following of almost 40 million accounts, beating out Francis whose combined following across all of his language specific accounts is just below Trump’s.

The list does not account for bots, or fake accounts, within a world leader’s Twitter following, nor does it count ex-world leaders. Twitplomacy founder Matthias Luefkens acknowledged that Trump’s followers engage frequently with Trump’s tweets, and said that Trump will also tweet about ranking as the most followed world leader on Twitter.

“He does like his crowd size,” Luefkens told AP.

So far, however, Trump has not acknowledged his newfound Twitter supremacy, and has instead chosen to use his account to focus on Puerto Rico, the Las Vegas Shooting, and calling out alleged fake news.
