Milo Talk Canceled After Campus Claims It Needs Bomb-Sniffing Dogs

San Diego State University (SDSU) canceled a planned October speech by conservative provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos Tuesday, citing security concerns and the need for 20 bomb-sniffing dogs.

The SDSU College Republicans were supposed to receive a price quote for security from campus police, but the cops instead told the group that it could not host the event at all, reported Campus Reform.

“This morning’s agenda was supposed to consist of a quote outlining security costs from Chief Mays,” said Brandon Jones, president of the school’s College Republicans, in a statement obtained by Campus Reform.”Instead, we were blindsided by university leadership with the cancelation [sic] of our event.”

Jones asserted that the meeting was the fourth meeting in four weeks between campus administration and himself in order to plan the Oct. 29 event, one of a slew of college and commercial dates planned for Yiannopoulos’ Troll Academy tour. The SDSU police informed Jones that security for the event would require 20 bomb-sniffing dogs and six hours of work, demands outside of SDSU’s capacity.

“The sudden decision to claim ‘lack of resources’ for an event that has been planned since May is highly suspicious and suggests this is another example of bureaucratic censorship and stonewalling by a left-wing campus administration,” said Yiannopoulos in a Facebook statement. “The SDSU College Republicans have retained an attorney to fight back against this violation of their free speech rights, and they have my full support.”

The Daily Caller News Foundation reached out to SDSU for comment, but received none in time for press.
