White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders pointed out that if football players are really upset about police brutality, then they should protest officers, not the flag Monday.
Sanders responded to a reporter who mentioned that football player Colin Kaepernick started the protests to speak out against police brutality during the White House briefing.

“I think if the debate for them is really about police brutality, they should probably protest the officers on the field that are protecting them instead of the American flag,” Sanders responded to a reporter, adding later “If the goal and message is that of police brutality, then it doesn’t seem appropriate to protest the American flag.”
Hundreds of football players kneeled during the national anthem at various Sunday football games. The protests came after President Donald Trump suggested Friday that the National Football League fire players who refuse to stand while the anthem plays.
