A nudist-operated mansion in Korea ignited protests over its reopening near the birthplace of a Catholic saint.
The mansion, operated by a naturist group near the birthplace of St. John Baptist Nam Chong-sam, reopened recently after being shut down in 2009. Locals decried the mansion as un-Christian and said they could see the mansion’s guests playing tennis and other sports completely naked, according to South China Morning Post.
“Whenever I go to pick herbs or hike the back mountains, I can see the nudists at their mansion,” a local said. “I can’t just close my eyes whenever I go to the mountains, can I?”
The mansion’s operator maintained that the guests’ “choice (of being naked) should be respected as long as it doesn’t violate the existing law” since the mansion is located on private property. Locals, however, vowed to continue protesting the mansion until it is permanently closed.
