A Democratic group with ties to former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton plans to back 35 “long-shot” candidates, according to a release Tuesday.

The group called “Run For Something” announced its list of 35 progressive Democrats who are challenging solid Republicans in local Virginia races.

“I think it’s going to be tough, but that’s where our money and support will make a difference,” Run For Something Founder Amanda Littman told the Washington Post.

The list of candidates the group plans to support includes transgender journalist Danica Roem, Air Force Veteran Donte Tanner, Emergency Room Nurse Kellen Squire, and many, many others.

“We’ll take a chance on people the usual “institutions” might never encounter,” the group asserts on its website. “We’ll help people run for offices like state legislatures, mayorships, city council seats, and more. We’ll do whatever it takes to get more under-35 year-olds on the ballot.”

Clinton’s new political action committee called “Onward Together” announced it was significantly backing the group designed to get more Democrats running for office. Run for something was created by former Clinton campaign staffers.
