Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross joked Monday that President Donald Trump’s April 6 air strike on Syria was after-dinner entertainment for Chinese President Xi Jinping.
“Just as dessert was being served, the president explained to Mr Xi he had something he wanted to tell him, which was the launching of 59 missiles into Syria,” Ross joked on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “It was in lieu of after-dinner entertainment.”
He continued, “The thing was, it didn’t cost the president anything to have that entertainment.”
Trump said on Fox News in mid-April he told Xi about his decision to launch the strikes while they were both eating “most beautiful piece of chocolate cake that you’ve ever seen.”
