United Airlines is facing another public relations nightmare after Simon the rabbit, destined to be the world’s largest bunny, died mysteriously while en route Tuesday to Chicago.
The 10-month old bunny died in the cargo hold of a Boeing 767 while traveling from London’s Heathrow Airport to O’Hare International Airport on a flight operated by United Airlines. O’Hare is the same airport where a doctor was violently dragged off of a United flight just weeks ago. (RELATED: Police Drag Man Off Flight Because United Overbooked It [VIDEO])
“Simon had a vet’s check-up three hours before the flight and was fit as a fiddle,” Breeder and former Playboy model, Annette Edwards told The Sun in an exclusive interview. “Something very strange has happened and I want to know what,” Edwards continued.
The Sun tweeted an image of Edwards with a bunny that has not been identified as Simon.

Simon was three feet long and on his way to eclipsing his fathers record as the world’s largest bunny, according to NBC News. Edwards said that Simon was going to grow larger than his father, Darius, who grew to be 4 feet, 4 inches and weighed 50 pounds.
The giant rabbit was apparently on its way to a “very famous” new owner, according to Edwards, who added that the client was “upset.” The former model said that she has sent rabbits all around the world and nothing like this has happened before.
“We were saddened to hear this news,” United spokesman Kevin Johnston told CNBC in an email. “We have been in contact with our customer and have offered assistance. We are reviewing this matter.”
