California University Social Justice Fair Reverses Decision To Ban Pro-Life Group

A pro-life group at California State University Dominguez Hills applied to participate in a social justice fair scheduled for this Tuesday and was initially denied a spot because it did not “fit within the framework” of the event, but later accepted.

“[Y]our application was denied based on the reasoning that your organization does not fit within the framework of this particular event,” the Students for Life group was informed by organizers of the fair in an April 14 email obtained by The College Fix. The Labor, Social and Environmental Justice Fair aims to introduce students to unions and community groups related to social justice and will incorporate music, art, theater, and dance.

“As a social justice, human rights organization, the only reason we can imagine we were denied is simply politics: even though there are plenty of people from across the political spectrum who oppose killing preborn persons,” said Brent Stenhouse, an adviser to CSUDH’s Students for Life chapter, to The College Fix. “Moreover, it appears that participation in this event is limited to individuals and organizations that toe the liberal line, marching in lock-step with the dominant ideology on campus: Marxism.”

CSUDH professor and fair adviser Vivian Price told The Daily Caller News Foundation and the Students for Life group told The College Fix that the decision to deny access to the pro-life group had been reversed late Monday morning. The DCNF asked Price why the group had originally been denied access and what precipitated the reversal, but the professor did not respond in time for press.

“We’re proud to be sponsored by unions, student government and individual donations. We’re overjoyed to have the participation of over 40 social justice organizations with useful resources and information,” Price, also the Labor Studies Program Coordinator told Dateline Dominguez. “As attacks on people based on race and religion and free speech mount under this administration, and the rights for a clean environment and good, safe jobs shrink and the very right to organize collectively is in jeopardy, we need to share our resources and work together.”

Multiple organizations and unions sponsoring the fair have taken anti-Trump stances, reports The College Fix. The International Longshore and Warehouse Union trains its members to oppose immigration raids and the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees has termed Trump “temperamentally unfit” for the office of president.
