The Trump administration continues to press China to resolve the North Korea problem, according to a Friday tweet.
“China is very much the economic lifeline to North Korea,” President Donald Trump tweeted Friday morning, “While nothing is easy, if they want to solve the North Korean problem, they will.”

The president praised China for its efforts to rein in North Korea during a press conference Thursday. “We don’t know whether or not they’re able to do that, but I have absolute confidence that he will be trying very very hard.”
He said that the administration hopes China will “get rid of this menace or do something about this menace of North Korea” and is prepared to reward Beijing with better trade deals if the Chinese follow through.
Trump has learned that the situation on the Korean peninsula is more complicated than he initially suspected, but he continues to put China at the heart of his North Korea policy.
Since the president took office, North Korea has launched at least eight confirmed missiles, including two new models that advance Pyongyang’s ability to threaten its neighbors and U.S. forces in the region.
