Blackburn Faces Protesters At Closed Town Hall

Rep. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee faced boos from the crowd in a closed town hall event Tuesday afternoon, according to the Huffington Post.
The town hall event was open to only invited members from her district, in an attempt to reduce the number of protesters, but there were still large a number of detractors at the meeting, and their questions revealed they didn’t view Republicans or the Trump administration favorably.
“Do you think it’s right to prioritize people based on their religion? Yes or no?” one attendee asked Blackburn repeatedly.

Several members of the crowd demanded an explanation about Steve Bannon’s presence in the White House, and Blackburn responded by saying she’s unaware of what happens in the White House. “I don’t speak for the president,” Blackburn responded.

Although the atmosphere was tense in the Fairview City Hall, there were about 150 protesters outside blocked by members of the local police. Police reportedly prepared for the promised 1,000 protesters, but only 150 showed up.
Protesters have disrupted several town hall events with other Republican representatives as well. Reps. Jason Chaffetz, Susan Collins, and Dave Brat have all faced consistent protests at town halls, with Democrats demanding action against President Donald Trump.
