The Women’s March On Washington Is Taking Quite A Beating On Twitter

The women’s march on Washington planned for Saturday is taking a beating on Twitter.
Trolls, haters and critics are using the hashtag “RenameMillionWomenMarch” to make fun of the demonstration and point out inconsistencies and flaws in the thinking behind the march. Although organizers billed the march as “inclusive” by organizers, for example, they’ve made it clear that welcome doesn’t extend to pro-life women.
Hundreds of thousands of women are expected to participate in the march, which will take place in the context of Donald Trump’s inauguration as president Friday, and was initially billed as the “million women” march. The hashtag to “rename” the march was trending nationwide on Twitter Thursday, upsetting some feminists who said it only proves the need for the march.
“The ‘I’m a strong, independent woman who don’t need no man, but need you to pay for my birth control’ march,” one user tweeted, along with the hashtag.

Supporters of the march were not happy with the trending hashtag, and tried to reclaim it as a weapon for their cause.
People mocking the march “need to educate themselves,” one person upset about the hashtag tweeted.

The thread on twitter just “reinforces” the need for the march, another user said.
