First Conscience Vote In The Electoral College Goes Against HILLARY

Muhammad Abdurrahan, a member of the Electoral College from Minnesota, was removed from office after he indicated he intended to vote for a candidate he preferred.

Abdurrahan said he did not want to vote for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, and was promptly ejected by state individuals. He is the first individual removed from the Electoral College for refusing to cast a ballot for a particular candidate in the 2016 general election. He represented Minnesota’s Fifth Congressional District, which includes the entire city of Minneapolis. Clinton carried the district in November’s election.

An alternate was sworn in to take his place and cast a ballot for Hillary Clinton.

Though some reports indicated that electors were plotting a last-ditch putsch to stop Donald Trump’s ascension to the presidency, as of this writing, the only individual removed from Monday’s balloting for attempting to cast a “conscience vote” has been a member who did not want to vote for Hillary Clinton.
