Video of the terrorist attack which killed 25 and wounded 49 at a Coptic Christian church in Egypt surfaced Thursday, showing the moment the bomb went off.

The attack occurred at around 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning, as worshipers gathered at St. Peter’s church in the capital of Cairo.

“I found bodies, many of them women, lying on the pews. It was a horrible scene,” cathedral worker Attiya Mahrous told the Associated Press.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi referred to the attack as a “terrorist act.” The Islamic State took credit for the attack Tuesday. The terrorist group named the attacker by his alias, Abu Abdallah al-Masri.

St. Peter’s church is located beside St. Mark’s Cathedral, the seat of the Egyptian Orthodox Christian church, which serves as the home to the church’s leader, Pope Tawadros II.

ISIS warned that it will escalate its “war on polytheism,” which is meant to refer to Christianity itself. The terrorist  group purposefully targeted Christian groups during its rise in 2014, destroying many of Iraq’s ancient Christian communities.
