Republican President-elect Donald Trump trusts his generals and advisers to keep him updated in lieu of standard, daily intelligence briefings.
Trump clarified his position on “Fox News Sunday” t0 say that his advisers are monitoring the briefings, with the understanding that they will let him know if anything changes.
“You know, I get — first of all, these are very good people that are giving me the briefings. And I say, ‘If something should change from this point, immediately call me. I’m available on one-minute’s notice.’ I don’t have to be told — you know, I’m, like, a smart person. I don’t have to be told the same thing in the same words every single day for the next eight years. Could be eight years — but eight years. I don’t need that. But I do say, ‘If something should change, let us know,'” Trump told Chris Wallace.
The interview revealed just how Trump plans to spend his time. He campaigned on domestic issues like jobs and illegal immigration, and appears to be willing to delegate authority to his top advisers. He will work on domestic issues, like his personal dealings with Carrier, in which Trump claims to have saved 1,100 jobs. The final number is disputed by union officials.
