An 18-year-old was charged with conspiracy to commit murder for hire after law enforcement authorities discovered that he was offering to kill people for money on the dark web.

“The investigation revealed that [Joshua Craig] ROWLING agreed with another to commit a murder in exchange for a firearm fitted with a silencer and cash,” Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced on Monday.

Rowling drove from his New York home to Mahwah, N.J. in order to meet with someone who seemed to show interest in his services as a hit-man. Upon arrival, Rowling was met by an undercover officer and search warrants were subsequently issued to search his home and vehicle.

Rowling was hoping to receive $2,500, according to an official complaint obtained by Motherboard.

“Bail was set at $1,000,000 with no 10 percent option,” according to a press release from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, meaning he is not able to pay $100,000 for temporary release.

Rowling will be incarcerated until his first court appearance Nov. 2.

“Acting Prosecutor Grewal states that these charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and would like to thank the HSI – Newark, HSI – New York, and the Mahwah Police Department for their assistance,” the Bergen County press release reads.
