Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and Republican Senator Marco Rubio are doing very well in the largely Democratic and Latino county of Miami-Dade in Florida, according county poll published Wednesday by WLRN-Univision 23.

Clinton earned a 30 point lead over Republican nominee Donald Trump. Clinton held 58 percent in the county, and Trump earned 28 percent. Trump currently is polling the lower than any Republican presidential nominee in recent political history in the county.

Seventy-one percent of voters hold an “unfavorable” view of the Republican nominee, compared to  27 percent who hold a favorable view of Trump. Only 38 percent of voters in the country view Clinton unfavorably, with 62 percent hold a favorable view of the Democratic nominee.

Senator Marco Rubio is also doing very well in the largest Florida county, tying Dem. Rep. Patrick Murphy. The county is widely considered to be a “safe Democratic” county, with central Florida being the battleground portion of the state.

According to the most recent voter registration information, there are 563,784 registered Democrats in the county, compared to 367,155 registered Republicans. That huge deficit would normally be associated with stronger poll numbers for a Democratic challenger, but Rubio’s latino outreach appears to be working in the state.

Wednesday’s poll ran from Oct. 15 through Oct. 17, and included 600 likely voters living within Miami-Dade county. The poll carried a margin of error of 3.99 percentage points in either direction.
