The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) announced Monday that it is dramatically cutting back spending in the Florida Senate race in support of Rep. Patrick Murphy.
The DSCC announced it planned to cut back ad spending in the state of Florida Sept. 6. The group is now cutting a $1 million ad budget down to a paltry $300,000, in what Republicans say represents the Democrats “bailing” on Murphy’s “losing campaign.”
“This is desperate spin from Republicans who are concerned that Senator Rubio is struggling to persuade Floridians that he won’t just serve his own political ambition with another term,” Murphy spokeswoman Galia Slayen told The Times. “We are confident we’ll have the resources necessary not just to compete, but to win this November.”
The Senate Majority PAC backed by Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid still plans to continue its $10 million ad buy in the state through November.
