The Daily Show weighed in on the Supreme Court abortion ruling Monday by jokingly urging women to celebrate by getting pregnant in Texas so they can have an abortion.
“Celebrate the SCOTUS ruling! Go knock someone up in Texas!” the show tweeted.

The court struck down two Texas abortion regulations in a 5-3 ruling that found the laws place an undue burden on women seeking an abortion in the state. The laws require abortionists to have admitting privileges to a nearby hospital and requires clinics to meet surgical clinic standards, which opponents of the law say would shut down more than half of the abortion clinics in Texas.
Texas argued the laws are aimed at protecting womens’ health, but the clinics argument that the law is a thinly veiled attack on “abortion rights” that places unnecessary hurdles in the way of getting an abortion won out.
The Daily Show tweet making light of both women’s health and the decision to end the life of an unborn child did not go over well on Twitter.
“This is in extremely poor taste,” Free Beacon reporter Morgan Chalfant tweeted.

“That daily show tweet literally made me sick,” tweeted Jen Barra. “How could you possibly find that funny and make abortion such a light issue.”
