In the wake of the devastating Tuesday terrorist attacks in Brussels, for which the Islamic State has since claimed responsibility, high profile individuals have taken to Twitter to remind followers that the real victims are Muslims and the driving force of terror is actually Islamophobia.
The Nation, a magazine whose Twitter bio reads “Instigating progress since 1865,” figured that this was the exact appropriate time to blame Fox News and right-wing radio for Islamophobia:

Notable Arab/German filmmaker Lexi Alexander decided that instead of sending love to the victims torn into pieces and pieces by the blasts at the Maelbeek Metro Station and Brussels Zaventem International Airport, the appropriate response was to love on Muslims and recommend others to quit hating and blaming Islam.
#StopIslam is trending. Sigh. I wish people would read more & hate less.
Sending lots of love to my Muslim friends and family members ❤️❤️❤️— Lexi Alexander (@Lexialex) March 22, 2016
Judd Legum, editor at Think Progress, Donald Trump’s response to the atrocity in Brussels is far more horrifying, than say, cleaning pieces of your girlfriend off your glasses and realizing that both of your legs are missing from the blast.

Award-winning UK-Pakistani singer Maz Bonafide wanted to let his followers know that terrorism has no religion, despite the fact that Brussels is a hotspot for terror activities, due to its strong Muslim population.
This #stopislam hashtag is stupid and ridiculous that its trending worldwide. terrorism has no religon. stop being islamophobic.

Saira Mehreen Abbasi, an activist, complained that the attention the media is playing to the attacks in Brussels, rather than attacks elsewhere, is indicative that white lives are more valued than Muslim or Arab lives.
Are white lives more precious than Muslim/Arab lives. Terrorism has no religion so focus on issue not #StopIslam pic.twitter.com/EIyKi2vQBr

Igor Volksy at the Center for American Progress Action Fund blamed Fox News for being a central driving force of Islamophobia, which in turn is used as the main motivating force to perpetrate atrocities on the West.
Hours after #brusselsattack, @FoxNews has turned to spewing Islamophobia — feeding into the very ideology that's driving terror groups
