President Donald Trump offered his take on what a woman is after Democrats have been unable to answer the question for several years.
According to the president, a woman is a biological female who had been “treated very badly” by trans-identifying males competing in their sports teams. Trump highlighted his answer during a press conference Friday following the swearing in of White House counselor Alina Habba, who will serve as the interim U.S. attorney for New Jersey.
“What is a woman and why is it important that we understand the difference between them and men?” a reporter asked during the conference.
“Well it’s very easy to answer for me because a woman is somebody that can have a baby under certain circumstances, she has equality, a woman is a person who is much smarter than a man I’ve always found, a woman is a person that doesn’t give a man even a chance at success,” Trump answered. “And a woman who’s a person who in many cases has been treated very badly because I think that what happens with this crazy, this crazy issue of men being able to play in women’s sports is just ridiculous and very unfair to women and very demeaning to women.”
“And that’s gotta be about a 94%, I read today it was a 94% issue and I watched the other day, I watched a congressman, a Democrat congressman fighting for the fact that men should be allowed to compete essentially in women’s sports and I said ‘I hope they keep that going because they’ll never win another election.’ That’s a big deal. But women are basically incredible people, they do so much for our country and we love our women and we’re gonna take care of our women,” the president continued.
Senate Democrats voted along party lines to block legislation that intended to codify Trump’s executive order to prevent men from competing in women’s sports. Democrat Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff particularly received criticism for voting against the legislation as his state overwhelmingly supports banning men from competing in women’s sports.

The president signed an executive order Feb. 5 to prevent men from competing in women’s sports. The administration also paused over $175,000,000 in federal funding from the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) over its policies conflicting with the executive order.
Democrats have either struggled or refused to give a definition for the term “woman.” Most famously, Supreme Court Associate Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson said she could not define what a woman is because she is “not a biologist” during her May 2022 confirmation hearing.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Sarah Netburn, one of Biden’s judicial nominees who ordered the federal government to send a male to a female prison, said she was “unqualified” to define what a woman is during her confirmation hearing in June.
Not a single Democrat senator could define the term after the Daily Caller reached out to every single senator’s office in April 2022.
During a tense exchange with Republican Georgia Rep. Andrew Clyde, former Biden-era U.S. Education Department Miguel Cardona also refused to define the term “woman” in April 2023 when he testified about the Biden administration’s proposed expansion of Title IX to include gender identity. The Biden-era regulation prohibited schools from preventing a student from participating in sex-separate activities that correlate with their gender identity.
The Biden administration’s Department of Health and Human Services funded over $700,000 to support the creation of a national pregnancy prevention program for transgender boys in January 2024.
