Scamp the Tramp was crowned the winner of the 2019 World’s Ugliest Dog competition Friday evening, beating out 18 other competitors for the title.

Scamp took the top prize at the annual ugly dog competition held at the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds & Event Center in Petaluma, California. This was his fourth competition, falling just short in 2018 and nabbing the runner-up spot.

“He has this hair that just kind of stands straight up,” Yvonne Morones, Scamp’s owner, told BuzzFeed News. “His body hair doesn’t grow, but instead he’s got these dreads that just happen naturally, and the top of his hair is gray and it just stands straight up.”

Morones adopted Scamp more than seven years ago after a shelter found him wandering around Compton, California. He now works as a pet therapist at Sebastopol Senior Center, according to his official biography.

“The seniors like to guess what kind of dog he is and write stories about him,” his bio says. “Scamp is also a reading dog volunteering weekly listening to first graders read stories to him. His favorite book is Go Dog Go. He crawls in the kid’s laps to listen, and they call him a fuzzy watermelon.”

Morones said that Scamp’s fur reminds her of Don King, the legendary boxing promoter who is known for having outrageous hair. His bio also says he’s called “a Rastafarian dog” and proposes that he might have DNA from Keith Richards.
