Angel Mom Maureen Maloney accused New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo of pandering for presidential votes after he pardoned 22 illegal immigrants eligible for deportation.
Maloney’s son Matthew Denice was killed by an illegal immigrant after he was hit by a truck and dragged for a quarter of a mile in 2011. He was 23 years old.
“It’s very upsetting,” Maloney said on “Fox & Friends” Wednesday. “Gov. Cuomo has a history of pardoning illegal aliens. In fact he’s been criticized recently because some of those that he pardoned over the summer have been arrested for new crimes that they’ve committed.”
Maloney also said Cuomo, a Democrat, is too concerned about keeping illegal immigrant families together when he should be focused on keeping American families safe.
“He said that these actions would help keep immigrant families together. Well building a wall and securing our border will help keep American families together by preventing illegal aliens from killing thousands of innocent Americans each year,” she continued.
She also accused him of “instilling fear” in legal immigrant and claimed he only cares about running for president in 2020.
“He’s pandering to the illegal aliens. He’s spouting rhetoric. He’s instilling fear in legal immigrants in the community,” she said. “He’s misleading his constituents and I think he’s just pandering for votes for his 2020 presidential run. His job is to keep Americans safe. That should be his priority along with [Senate Minority Leader] Chuck Schumer, [House Minority Leader] Nancy Pelosi, [Massachusetts Democratic Sen.] Elizabeth Warren. Their job is to keep Americans safe. They need to secure our border and protect Americans — keep American families together.”
