Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro faced international backlash after a viral video showed him feasting on an expensive steak dinner by Nusret Gökçe, the famous chef known as Salt Bae, at a steakhouse in Istanbul despite the humanitarian crisis occurring in his own home country.
Despite inflation at nearly 1 million percent, citizens fleeing to neighboring countries for refuge or turning to prostitution for income, the Venezuelan president ignored it all in exchange for an upscale dining experience.
