President Donald Trump blasted Democrats who are predicting a blue wave in the 2018 midterm elections, saying instead a red wave would sweep them in the 2018 November midterm elections at a Wednesday rally.
“We must elect more Republicans, we have to do that. And the problem is in the Senate, we have 51. We don’t have enough,” Trump said at the rally in Fargo, North Dakota. “Their blue wave is really sputtering pretty badly. The red wave is happening — just look what happened last night.”
At the rally, Trump encouraged voters to get out and vote for GOP Rep. Kevin Cramer of North Dakota, who is running for Senate against Democratic Sen. Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota in the Nov. 6 election. Trump told voters there was a need for more Republicans in the Senate, saying 51 was not enough.
Trump’s comments come after South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster, a Republican, won a runoff election in his state Tuesday, one day after Trump attended a rally for McMaster, telling voters to “get your asses out tomorrow and vote.”
