Princess Diana Mementos Up For Auction

Princess Diana mementos are up for auction with an estimated value of over a thousand dollars, according to the Daily Mail Thursday.

A personal letter from the princess of Wales worth $1,500 alongside cards that will each go for $800 are going up for sale at RR Auction, the Daily Mail reported. Diana’s 1990 letter jokes about how she “wanted a medal” for turning 30 with a smiley face. The mementos up for auction include three cards sent by Diana. Two of the cards feature family portraits of a Diana, Prince Charles, and a young Prince Harry and William. 

“Princess Diana’s handwriting had a beautiful flourish, and her letters – a caring and loving tone,” noted Bobby Livingston, the auction house’s executive vice president, according to the Daily Mail. Diana’s letter is currently at a bid of $700, according to the auction house’s website.

“What a wonderful Jersey I have been given & how really touched I am to be remembered for entering my 30th year – I want a medal when I finally make it please!” wrote Diana to fashion designer Bruce Oldfield and his assistant Anita Richardson. “It was typical of you both to spoil me with one lovely Jersey – is this a new line as I haven’t seen this before, or am I just very behind with the times?!” 

Princess Diana tragically died from a car crash in 1997.
