Six teenagers in Baltimore jumped a recently prominent Twitter user in the city Thursday night, and Friday afternoon he described the whole ordeal on his feed.
Paul Gardner gained Twitter fame of sorts in April when he was one of a number of people on the ground documenting riots in the aftermath of Freddie Gray’s death while in police custody.
The 33 year-old construction worker documented some more violence in the city last night: his own mugging.
“At 2am last night I got the fucking shit kicked out of me by 6 teenagers on the 800 block of St Paul,” Gardner tweeted Friday afternoon with an accompanying picture of his badly beaten face.

According to Gardner, six teenagers approached him and asked him for directions to a nearby market. Next thing he knew, the men had surrounded him and started beating him right in the street.
They punched me in the face about 25 times and only stopped to get what was in my pockets and ask me what my PIN number was.

I said I don't remember you've hit me too many times so they hit me some more.

They only stopped when the beautiful, beautiful, beautiful people of 800 St Paul called the police and came outside to help me.

Gardner said the police actually caught six people matching the description he gave them of his assailants a few blocks from where the mugging took place, but were forced to let them go because there was no proof they were involved.
He has some advice for anyone else who finds themselves in that particular situation: Run.
If you find yourself in this spot don't overthink it just fucking run. Run. Run as fast as you can to whatever's still open.

I knew what was going to happen as soon as I saw them but I didn't know what to do. I'm telling you, run.

After going through what he did, Gardner appeared to be in pretty good spirits about the situation.
Anyway. My brain isn't leaking, mentally I'm basically on point, and my left eye still mostly works so all in all I'm feeling pretty lucky.

Oh yeah I forgot to tell you the best part. I only had $2 on me.
