The Congressional Leadership Fund (CLF), a super PAC that backs House Speaker Paul Ryan, will roll out $10 million worth of ads before Labor Day, attacking Democrats in the tightest races for the House.
The pre-Labor Day barrage of explosive ads that will target 14 races across the country is unprecedented, as most PACs and organizations usually waits until after the holidays when Americans are more engaged in the midterm elections to come in November.
CLF will attempt to undermine candidates who support House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, and are likely to vote for her as House speaker if Democrats win. Pelosi has recently been under fire from her party, who is calling for a change in leadership after November’s election.
“A vote for Paul Davis is a vote for Nancy Pelosi,” $825,000 worth of ads proclaimed in Kansas, forcing the Democratic candidate to definitively deny his support for Pelosi in an ad of his own.
“I will not support Nancy Pelosi,” Davis’ ad countered.
CFL has raised over $100,000 million for this cycle, according to reports by CNN. Other ads haven taken aim at Harley Rouda, a Democratic candidate from California, claiming he has “outsourced American jobs to China” and is making “millions of dollars from sweatshop labor.” Another called out Joe Radinovich from Minnesota, saying if elected, he would raise taxes for families in his home state.
