An explosion targeting the Port Authority Bus Station in downtown Manhattan Monday was allegedly carried out by an Islamic State-inspired Bangladeshi immigrant, former NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton told MSNBC.

The Associated Press, citing a law enforcement official, noted that the suspect had the bomb strapped to him at the time of detonation.

The incident would mark the second ISIS-inspired attack on New York City within the last two months. Sayfullo Saipov, an Uzbek immigrant inspired by ISIS, mowed down tens of people on a busy New York bike path.
